EPO SMART CARD
For online filing using the EPO-OLF system, a smart card is required. It allows the authentication of the person who signs/files the patent application, it is protected with a PIN code, it uses the electronic signature and involves the use of a specialized reader to be attached to your personal computer by USB.
The package needed for authentication in the system and for online filing consists of a smart card, a smart-card reader and a CDROM with the software for installing the reader, which can be purchased from EPO, free of charge.
For ordering it, fill in the registration form in the epoline website of EPO and follow the steps indicated there.
The document you are asked by EPO to sign and send there, during the procedure for the smart card purchase, should also be sent to OSIM. You may send it to OSIM either by fax, to the number: +40 21 312 38 19 or scanned as PDF, to the address:
Do not install the product Online Filing from the CDROM you receive in this package, as it is a not updated version. For installing, click here!!!
- To be able to file your applications with OSIM by electronic means, starting with 20 September 2010, the smart cards issued by EPO shall be registered at OSIM following a simplified self-registration procedure:
- Be sure that the smart card is inserted into the reader, that all the applications and drivers needed are installed, otherwise the self-registration will not succeed.
- For self-registration, fill in this form using the Internet Explorer browser (select the certificate and enter the PIN code when requested)
As soon as you have completed this procedure, you will be able to send your online applications to OSIM.
